Working on publicity for the BSEC "Nurturer's Day Festival" on May 10th, I came upon a very interesting platform presented by Jone Johnson at the Northern Virginia Ethical Culture Society on May 10th, 1998 about the relationship between Julia Ward Howe's launching of Mother's Day in 1870 as an anti-war protest — and the founding of the Ethical Culture Society on May 15, 1876.
